The archives at Raleigh include both the official tax lists for the 1790's and for some years the original tax list as prepared by the assessor.   The list on the left is the original, the list on the right is the official as recorded in the Person County Court records.   Notice that in some years the data does not exactly match.  This is especially the case in the spelling, as two different individuals were involved here - one being the district assessor which in many years was John Gwinn.  The second person was county clerk Jesse Dickens.
